In this blog I want to provide useful information, resources, and practical strategies for managing and coping with Bipolar Disorder. Why is this important to me? It’s important because I have Bipolar Disorder and I’m looking for ways to manage it so that it does not control my life.

Bipolar Disorder (BP) affects thoughts, emotions, energy, sleep, weight, and physical health. BP is characterized by the excessive mood swings of either mania or depression. Many people with BP experience both. I tend to go towards the mania side of things, with euphoric mania being the monster that tries to take over and ruin my life from time to time.

What are some of the negative things that can happen with BP? If untreated BP can prevent you from living life to the fullest. It can keep you from achieving your full potential. If untreated, it can also cause you to lose everything that you value and have accomplished in your life.  During manic episodes especially, people destroy their careers, their marriages, and sometimes break up their families forever.

A manic person can spend an entire fortune overnight, and end up losing their home, friends,  and loved ones.  Outcomes I definitely want to avoid. As I learn new things about BP, I’ll share them with you here on the Bipolar Lifeline blog.
